![]() But considering you're experiencing the issue fixing itself after X times trying to re-download, I'd start by checking the drive health and checking whether it and any cabling connecting it, is still seated properly. There's a whole lot of mess which could cause 'staticy' noise. ![]() Or check that what you're dealing with isn't basic problems with induction and cross-talk because your hardware isn't properly insulated and grounded. Or maybe check your audio cabling, and verify that it's not faulty. Because if it's randomly bit-flipping zeros and ones to cause static, then you have bigger problems to worry about. ![]() You could also redirect your efforts more constructively at something relevant such as, for instance, checking the health status and integrity of whatever drive you're using to store game files on. N-O I do not have a potato for a modem, nor PC, no I don't use dialup, or a proxy/VPN, no I don't live far from the Steam download server I use, I also use LAN cables, not WiFi, the FACT of the matter is it's something to do with the way Steam sound files are stored, zipped, compressed, or downloaded! I've had to redownload ALL of them multiple times to get the sound files to NOT be staticky, & sometimes (as with Carmagedon, & Crossout) they static is STILL there, but so quite I got tired of redownloading the game, & just play with slightly staticky sound, and NO verifying the Steam files doesn't even EVER catch the corruption! So I guess I get to reinstall the game 100x until the sound files aren't corrupted, geeeeee thanks Gearbox!įable anniversary, Doom Eternal, Carmagedon-Max damage, MX vs ATV-Unleashed, Pool Nation FX, Overdrift, Forza Horizon-4, & Crossout are the other games that've done this too. Yet ANOTHER game that uses whatever zipped, or compressed sound files that FAR too many Steam games (I've NEVER had an Origin/EA app, GOG, Window's store, nor Epic games sound files end up "staticy") use that end up very, Very, VERY staticiky, this is actually the worst game to do it yet, it's so bad I cannot even STAND to play the game, nor hear 1/2 of the dialog because of the static. ![]()
